Eric Neelans
Optometrist
A native of Bucks County, PA, Dr. Neelans graduated from Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA, in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He then earned a Bachelor of Science in Visual Science and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2008. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army and completed his residency training in Primary Care Optometry at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX, through Northeastern State University College of Optometry. In 2009, he participated in a humanitarian mission to Guatemala, providing eye care to underserved communities.
Following his residency, Dr. Neelans was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, where he commanded an Army medical detachment and deployed to Iraq for 12 months as one of only four optometrists in the country serving U.S. military personnel. He later served as Chief of the Winder Optometry Clinic at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA, before returning home to Bucks County in 2014. Since then, he has worked in both optometry and ophthalmology practices in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, gaining extensive experience in primary eye care, specialty contact lens fittings, and the management of conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye, corneal disease, and the ocular effects of systemic diseases like diabetes.
Dr. Neelans became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry in 2013 and remains committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centered eye care.
Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, traveling, baseball, and reading about history.
